Mission of the Month for May 2012

The Women’s Resource Center provides education, support, counseling, housing and advocacy – through community collaboration – to end domestic and sexual violence and promote an equitable, safe environment for all.

They serve five counties in northwest lower Michigan: Benzie, Grand Traverse, Kalkaska, Leelanau, and southern Antrim counties.

At FCC we come alongside Women’s Resource Center in a very specific way: we fill bags with art, school supplies and toys for children who find themselves in one of the WRC shelters or transitional houses with little other than the clothes on their backs.

The kids in our children’s ministry decorate the bags and anyone can take a bag or shopping list and for $20 or less can provide a gift of love to a child in need.

Please use the included shopping list to fill the bag and return by May 27th.

School-age Bags:

Two spiral notebooks
Pencils
Washable markers or crayons
Glue or glue sticks
One small fun item-toy, coloring book, stickers etc.

Preschool Bags:

Safety Scissors
Coloring book/activity book
Washable markers or crayons
Glue or glue sticks
One small fun item-toy or stuffed animal

Thanks for supporting the Women’s Resource Center!
