Fist Congregational Church

The Garden & Landscape Board

FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH GARDEN MISSIONS:

The Garden and Landscape Board is responsible for the care and maintenance of the Garden of Remembrance, and also the remainder of the church grounds which includes: the Peace Garden, the Children’s Garden, the Caring Garden and the parking lot islands.

Garden of Remembrance

Our Garden of Remembrance, established in 1985, provides a place for the ash remains of church members, their families, and those who had a caring interest in the church. Throughout the centuries, a burial place has often been provided next to the church where remains of the deceased rest beside their spiritual home on earth. The garden is available as a place of quiet meditation and renewal for everyone. To learn more about the Garden of Remembrance, please contact the Church office at 231-947-6698 or info@fcctc.org.

C

The goal of our Caring Garden is to share God’s bounty with those less fortunate, to better appreciate our blessings at FCC via beautiful gardens and grounds, and to share fellowship and fun with other gardeners. Local gardeners can “lease” tilled garden beds from the church, plant the annual vegetable or flower plants they wish, and then donate at least 10% of the proceeds to local food pantries. All planting, weeding, harvesting, and clean-up is handled by the individual gardener.

All work and gardening is done by volunteers, and there are weekly work bees to accomplish our mission.

Volunteers

We welcome volunteers! Please let us know if you are interested in serving on the Garden and Landscape Board or if you would like to join us for any of our weekly Work Bees, each Tuesday from 9am to noon. For more information, please email Barbara Kausler, here.
